More than 150 firearms and 84 bladed weapons were handed in during the Police’s three-week surrender amnesty.
The initiative ran from January 13 to February 2 and also saw more than 500 rounds of ammunition surrendered.
Items handed in included a double barrel shotgun, high powered hunting rifle, viable handguns and two deactivated AK47 and Uzi weapons.
Bladed articles included machetes, swords, daggers and a ninja star.
The figures show an increase compared to previous amnesties. In 2023, 112 firearms and 73 knives were surrendered, while in 2019, 53 firearms were handed in.
Surrendered weapons will either be safely destroyed or retained for training purposes to help officers familiarise themselves with different firearms.
Part 1 firearms certificate holders are reminded that renewal applications must be submitted by April 1 2026.
