A group of University College Isle of Man’s team has visited Jersey’s Highlands College as part of the Peer Review Agreement.
The review is part of an ongoing quality‑assurance agreement between the islands’ further‑education institutions.
Staff from UCM, alongside colleagues from The Guernsey Institute, spent the visit reviewing all aspects of Highlands College’s provision, including facilities, student experience, adult education, curriculum, teaching quality, operations and strategic objectives.
Their findings will contribute to a formal report.
Peer Review
UCM Principal Jesamine Kelly said the collaboration offered benefits for all three colleges, noting the similarities in size and markets.
“As well as supporting our peers in Jersey to provide an independent review, it’s also a great opportunity for our teams to reflect on the service we provide,” she said.
Highlands College Principal Jo Terry‑Marchant said the review, last carried out in Jersey three years ago, was an important part of the college’s external evaluation processes.
She added that last year’s visit to UCM had been “insightful” and expected the Isle of Man team to take valuable learning from their time in Jersey.
The peer review rotates annually between Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. Since the agreement began before the pandemic, two reviews have taken place at UCM, two in Jersey and one in Guernsey.
