Nearly 150 Social Security Cheques Still Uncashed

Almost 150 social security cheques issued in the first two months of the year remain uncashed, the Treasury Minister has confirmed.

Minister Chris Thomas MHK confirmed the figures in a written answer to Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper.

As of March 10, 2026, the Treasury reported:

  • 25 cheques from January remain uncashed, worth £1,595.72
  • 122 cheques from February remain uncashed, worth £42,028.50

In total, 147 cheques issued across the two months have not been cashed, relating to 92 individuals.

Minister Thomas also confirmed that 23 people currently have more than one uncashed cheque.

Of those, 8 individuals have cheques outstanding for only a week, while 15 individuals have cheques that have been uncashed for longer.

The figures were released in response to Hooper’s question on benefit and pension payments.
