Only a small proportion of vehicles on Manx roads are believed to be untaxed, the Infrastructure Minister has confirmed.
DoI Minister Tim Crookall MHK has told Tynwald in response to a written question from Rushen MHK and Speaker Juan Watterson.
Minister Crookall said current enforcement data suggests that around 1-2% of vehicles being driven on the island are not taxed.
However, he confirmed that the Department is unable to calculate the exact revenue loss due to operational limitations.
Using an estimated 1% non‑compliance rate, based on recorded vehicle numbers and an average annual duty of £165 for a standard Class B vehicle, the Department calculates a potential annual loss of £110,220.
The Minister said work continues to improve enforcement and data accuracy.
