‘There is no need to stockpile’

Spar has told customers there is no need to stockpile diesel after its Ramsey store ran dry on the same day it got a delivery.

Today has been queues at petrol stations after a weekend where diesel supplies ran low across the island.

Monday also saw diesel at some petrol stations hit 185.9p per litre due to the sharp increase in fuel prices across the world.

In an update tonight, Spar Isle of Man said: “Our Ramsey forecourt has now ran dry of diesel today. This is after today’s fuel delivery, deliveries have now returned to normal there is no need to stockpile diesel.

“The forecourt will receive an additional delivery tomorrow.”

Meanwhile EVF has been updating people on its fuel delivery tanker, which has spent several days sheltering off the coast.

It said that fuel, once it reaches garages, “will be newly priced product”.

It added: “There is no planned restrictions on purchasing fuel.”

The company has however said it has no diesel until tomorrow, while its Little Switzerland store “will only have super unleaded until its delivery tomorrow”.
