A Ramsey MHK has criticised the UK government’s intervention after the Ministry of Justice said it could not recommend the Assisted Dying Bill for Royal Assent.
Lawrie Hooper called the move “really concerning”, saying it represents an unusually direct involvement in Manx domestic legislation.
He warned the step raises “serious constitutional concerns” regardless of views on the Bill itself.
“We are not a colony of the UK,” he said
