A man who was stopped three times for speeding in the space of a single day is appearing in court today, the Isle of Man Constabulary has confirmed.
The man was recorded at 80mph in a 50mph zone during one of the incidents and was arrested on the third stop.
Police say the case shows how quickly information is shared between patrols, with marked and unmarked Roads Policing Unit officers operating across the island throughout TT.
They warn that repeated speeding will lead directly to custody and court, and that riders risk ending their TT “in a way nobody wants”.
Drive Sensibly
With unsettled weather expected, police are urging people to ride and drive to the conditions and avoid adding to disruption.
Crashes, oil spills, infrastructure damage and entering closed roads all have significant impacts on racing and on the emergency services who respond.
Officers say they are seeing a worrying number of people over the limit for drink or drugs who are still choosing to get on a bike or into a vehicle. They warn that impairment affects judgement, reactions and awareness, and the consequences “can be life changing”.
Police are asking riders and drivers to make sensible decisions and not risk fines, points, a night in custody or something far worse. While most visitors behave responsibly, a small number continue to show disregard for their own safety and for others.
