Manx Telecom has abandoned plans to install telegraph poles in three Peel residential areas.
The company told MHK Kate Lord-Brennan it will not proceed with poles at 1-41 Bellevue Park, 1-17 Carmane Close, and 2 and 10-18 Cronk Reayrt.
The decision comes after weeks of opposition from residents who had challenged planning appeal decisions overturned by DEFA.
“I am very happy to say that following my expressions of deep dissatisfaction on your behalf, Manx Telecom wrote to me yesterday to advise that they will not be proceeding with poles in those areas,” Ms Lord-Brennan said.
“This is the correct decision and supports the original findings of the planning committee and the Inspector.”
The Glenfaba and Peel MHK had expressed “deep dissatisfaction” with the overturned rulings.
“I am glad I have been able to represent that sense of outrage, particularly when people had followed and engaged with the process in good faith. I will always support my constituents when facing injustice.”
She acknowledged Manx Telecom’s response while emphasising the original planning decisions were appropriate.
Ms Lord-Brennan has requested the company write directly to residents and urged anyone receiving contrary information to contact her.
