Without Wings, the Manx Autoimmune Trust, has appointed two new trustees as it enters what founder Jacqueline Morrey‑Grace describes as a “brand new era” for the charity.
Morrey‑Grace said the move marks a major step in a sustainability and governance plan first set in motion three years ago, aimed at strengthening the organisation for the decade ahead and ensuring it can continue supporting the 10% of the island’s population affected by autoimmune conditions.
The charity, founded ten years ago, has brought in Mark Humphrey, of Humphrey and Helfrich, who joins the board with legal expertise, and Pete Hodgson, a psychologist and long time charity manager known for leading the Youth Motor Project for around 30 years.
Trust’s Future Direction
Both are described as key additions to the trust’s future direction.
They join existing trustee Suzanne Wild, who has been with Without Wings since its inception, treasurer Sue Grace, and Morrey‑Grace herself, who continues as founder, chair and charity manager.
Morrey‑Grace said the changes reflect the evolving charity‑governance landscape and the need for strong, sustainable structures to maintain impact: “Impact stops the moment sustainability and governance lose traction.”
She also thanked her Launch! business partner Amoré du Plessis for donating photography and support.
The trust is now seeking new donors, partnerships and speaking opportunities to help expand its work and “continue to grow with a vision of helping to make our island better”.
