More than 1,200 health checks at Ramsey’s Health Station show residents actively improving their wellbeing, with repeat users recording lower blood pressure, reduced smoking and healthier BMI scores.
The free self‑service station, installed at the Northern Swimming Pool in February 2026, has been used by 994 people, completing 1,248 checks.
It allows users to monitor blood pressure, weight and heart rate, and provides personalised guidance.
Data from February to June shows 17% of users recorded high blood pressure, 67% were overweight or obese, and 60.5% had not had their blood pressure checked in the past year. 10% reported smoking.
Repeat users showed notable improvements: half of those with high blood pressure lowered their reading on a later visit, smoking rates among returning users fell by 33%, and 3.4% of those with very high BMI reduced it.
Cabinet Office Minister David Ashford MHK said the results show people “engaging with their health and taking positive steps,” encouraging more residents to use the station.
Dr Lisa Drew, GP Lead for the Northern Health and Care Community, said the initiative has helped people take an active interest in monitoring blood pressure, weight and lifestyle.
The Health Station will remain in place until February 2027 and is supported by Ramsey Group Practice and the Northern Health and Care Community.
