The Manx Wildlife Trust has submitted plans to plant 9,700 trees at a cattle farm near Laxey Wheel.
MWT intends to convert the 110-acre farm into a “temperate rainforest landscape of woodland, scrub and open glades”. Hardy cattle will continue to graze the land.
These plans are the first of three phases to fully develop Cronk-y-Chule Farm, purchased by MWT in April 2026.
The second and third phases cover land that borders residential properties and will require longer consultation periods.
MWT emphasises that the project will offer a potential community asset and tourist attraction to Laxey.
