Jed Etchells took the 2026 British Enduro title in fine style, doubling up on the championship he won in 2023, after producing a breathless comeback at the season finale in mid-Wales.
Heading into the final weekend (September 12-13), the Manxman enjoyed a healthy 20 point advantage over fellow title-chaser Jack Edmondson with two rounds remaining. Both would be contested across two days at the fearsome, rain-soaked Hundred House Enduro, organised by Builth Wells Motorclub.
Despite suffering a heavy crash in the penultimate weekend’s racing, the Braaid man lined up with the title in his hands provided he finished within striking distance of Edmondson. His season-long sparring partner, however, made a flying start in challenging conditions and Etchells fell as far down as fourth, which would’ve taken the championship to a final day decider. Undeterred, the Manx rider held his nerve fighting back up to second, and by the chequered flag, he was guaranteed overall honours.
Mechanical trouble in Sunday’s final round quashed any dreams of a fairytale finish, but despite Edmondson taking his second win of the weekend, Etchells had enough of an advantage in hand to claim his second career British Championship by just three points.
While Etchells domestic season draws to a successful close, there is still time for a final flourish on the continent, as he gears up to travel to Grandola, Portugal with Team GB for the historic 6DAYS FIM Enduro of Nations. Celebrating its 100th edition this year, the event will see over 500 competitors from more than 30 nations take on the 1500km epic, which runs from October 12-17.
