A candidate in last month’s House of Keys election is planning to make a bid for a seat on Braddan Commissioners.
Alf Caine finished in third place in the Middle constituency, behind the two succesfsul candidates, Jane Poole-Wilson and James Cochrane. Caine was 161 votes behind second-placed Cochrane.
There is a vacancy at Braddan Commissioners after Peter Scott stood down. As yet, no by-election has been called or date set.
Caine said the priorities he set out in his House of Keys manifesto applied to his bid to join the Braddan board.
He also wants to explore ways of keeping rates down while maintaining and improving local facilities and services.
Caine has spent more than 50 years running businesses and has owned and farmed Castleward Farm since 1987.
Serving Community
He said: “I care deeply about Braddan and the people who live here.
“During the General Election campaign, I had the opportunity to meet many residents and listen to what matters to them. Many have since encouraged me to stand for the Commissioners, and it would be a real honour to serve my community.”
He added: “I believe local government should listen to residents, be accountable and provide good value for money. I want to bring my experience to the Commissioners and focus on practical things that make a difference to people living in Braddan.”
