Marown Candidate Wants to Help Residents

A candidate in the upcoming Marown Commissioners by-election says she would try to help residents ‘as much as possible’ if elected.

Amanda Collister hopes to be able to work with neighbouring authorities and would support improvements to children’s play areas and leisure areas.

The by-election is taking place on Thursday (October 8), and residents will be able to vote from 8am until 8pm at the Crosby Methodist Church Hall.

There is one available seat following the resignation of John Lovelady last month. The other candidate is Oksana Hargreaves.

Collister believes her experience on the board of Marown School Association would help her in the role of commissioner.

She said: “Having a family and home in the parish, I have an interest in making it a good place to live and to raise a family.”

Collister pledged that, if elected, she would work closely with the Middle MHKs to ensure Marown was represented well in the House of Keys.

Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper has been talking to her:

A requisition meeting is being held today (October 5) at Crosby Methodist Hall from 7pm for residents to meet the candidates and ask questions.
