Rotary Bursaries Awarded to Three Postgraduate Students

Three Isle of Man students have received postgraduate bursary support from the Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann Charitable Trust for 2026/27.

The recipients are Saoirse Matthews from Foxdale, who is undertaking the second year of an International Development Master’s degree at Lund University in Sweden; Daniel Millward from Castletown, who is beginning a Master’s degree in Astronautics and Space Engineering at Cranfield University; and George Lewis from Kirk Michael, who is carrying out postgraduate research into the sustainable use and cultivation of herbal medicines.

Paul Winnell of the Rotary Club of Rushen and Western Mann said support from the Manx public through fundraising events, together with a donation from a club member, had enabled the charity to expand its bursary programme and provide funding to three students this year.

Michael Crowe, chair of the club’s foundation committee, said applications are already being received for the 2027/28 academic year and encouraged other postgraduate students to apply for future bursaries through the organisation’s website.

The charitable trust said it hopes to continue supporting Manx students in furthering their academic studies in the years ahead.
