New Commissioners Will Work for Community

The Chair of Port St Mary Commissioners says new people joining the board will be able to work ‘first hand’ on community projects.

There are two seats available on the board following the retirement of Bernadette Williams and departure of Glenys Brunt.

The commissioners are inviting people to their board meeting at 6pm on October 28, in the town hall, to learn more about what it does and how it operates.

Jean Teare says she would recommend prospective candidates put together a “small leaflet” for residents to understand what they think about issues in the port.

Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper has been speaking to her:

People wanting to stand in any of the constituencies can collect forms from the town hall and return them between 10am on October 28 and 1pm on November 4.

If more than two people stand for Port S Mary Commissioners, polling will take place on Thursday, December 3.
