Road Condition Surveys to Take Place

Carriageway condition surveys across the island’s roads will take place next month.

The Department of Infrastructure has appointed specialist firm XAIS – PTS to carry out the surveys,

A DoI spokesperson said: “These specialist SCANNER and Scrim surveys assess the condition of the highway network, including skid resistance and surface condition, providing important information to help plan future maintenance and investment in our roads.”

Survey work is due to start on November 2 and is expected to take a month to complete.

“During this time, residents may notice liveried survey vehicles travelling around the island’s road network,” said the spokesperson.

“The vehicle is designed to operate safely within normal traffic conditions and move with the flow of traffic. It will cause little or no disruption to road users.”

The department says the work will help to prioritise investment, target maintenance more effectively and ensure we achieve the greatest value from public funding.
