A Ramsey fishmongers has received the highest recognition in its industry while also marking a major change in leadership.
Scales Fishmongers has been awarded the National Federation of Fishmongers’ prestigious Award of Excellence for 2026/27, beating competition from businesses across the British Isles.
The judging panel praised the company for its seafood expertise, strong links with local fishermen, investment in future talent and commitment to the community.

The accolade comes at a significant moment for the business, with managing director Arran Phillips handing over ownership after 40 years in the fish industry. The company will now be led by Rhys and Jack, who have become the new directors.
Mr Phillips said the pair “truly deserve” the opportunity to take ownership of Scales and build on its success, adding that he looks forward to watching them flourish in the years ahead.
The award marks another milestone for the independent Ramsey business, which has built a reputation for punching above its weight in the seafood sector.
