The former husband of Joanna Simpson, who killed her in 2010, will not be released from prison after the High Court dismissed his appeal.
Robert Brown killed Joanna, whose mother Diana Parkes lives on the island, in October 2010 before burying her in a pre-dug grave.
Brown, a former British Airways pilot, was due to be released last year before Justice Secretary Alex Chalk MP blocked it and referred the case to the Parole Board under public protection powers.
After being found guilty of her manslaughter, Brown was sentenced to 24 years in prison and an additional two years of obstructing a coroner.
His legal team claimed the referral was improperly motivated and that he did not pose an increased risk the public.
However, Justice Ritchie dismissed his case and said there are ‘good grounds’ for believing that Brown still poses a risk to the public and requires a full and proper assessment.
Mrs Parkes was made a CBE in the New Year’s Honours List for services to child victims of domestic abuse and domestic homicide.
