Mannin Music Limited has applied to change the use of St George’s Chambers in Douglas from office space to a rehearsal space.
If approved, it would allow the building to operate as a dedicated centre for music education, rehearsals and creative community activity.
The organisation says the move would bring all of its Douglas teaching and rehearsal work under one roof, replacing its small existing studio and removing the need to hire venues around the town.
The larger space would support individual and group lessons, multiple teachers working at once, and future expansion of programmes such as Mini Musicians and The Rock Project.
The venue would operate 10am to 10pm on weekdays and 9.30am to 4pm at weekends, with access limited to key holders and booked sessions.
Mannin Music says noise impact will be minimal due to the building’s construction and planned acoustic treatment, and parking needs would be met through rented spaces, nearby car parks and evening on‑street availability.
The company notes the building previously served as a Sunday school, memorial hall and cinema, and says the proposal would restore elements of its historic educational and entertainment role.
