A passenger on tonight’s easyJet flight to Gatwick has told Manx.News that it has been now been cancelled due to an issue with a tug.
The tug is the vehicle which pushes the planes back.
The Gatwick flight had been due to leave at 7:50pm, but is currently still at Ronaldsway.
In a video sent to us by a reader, the captain can be heard saying an engineer is on their way to try and fix the tug but that it may not be done before the airport closes.
They said that in a second announcement, the pilot informed passengers that the tug has developed a flat tyre.
We understand the Loganair flight to Edinburgh, which was due to leave at 7:55pm is also stuck waiting to leave.
Update
The captain on the easyJet plane has now confirmed their flight has been cancelled as the airport is closing.
