Array of Mountain Road Closures Begins This Week

The Mountain Road will face a run of closures across this week and next, with evening maintenance works followed by separate daytime shutdowns linked to filming.

Highway Services says the verge‑cutting and hedge‑trimming is essential for road safety and for preparing the course ahead of the Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT.

Evening closures run from 6.30pm to no later than 10.30pm:

  • North section: Barrule Park, Ramsey to the Bungalow — Wednesday (August 5) and Thursday (August 6)
  • South section: Bungalow to Creg Ny Baa — Friday (August 7), Monday (August 10) and Tuesday (August 11)

The Bungalow will remain accessible at all times via Tholt‑y‑Will Road, and access to Creg Ny Baa will stay open from Douglas, Laxey and Onchan.

Additional Mountain Closures

Separate from the maintenance works, the A18 will also close for extended periods to accommodate filming operations:

Friday, August 7

  • A18 — Tholt‑y‑Will Road to Johnny Watterson Lane, 5am to 2pm
  • A18 — Ramsey Hairpin to Tholt‑y‑Will Road, 11am to 10pm

Saturday, August 8

  • A18 — Ramsey Hairpin to Tholt‑y‑Will Road, 2pm to 8pm

Next Monday & Tuesday, August 10 & 11

  • A18 — Ramsey Hairpin to Tholt‑y‑Will Road, 6am on Monday to 8am on Tuesday

These closures are unrelated to race preparation and are being implemented solely to facilitate filming.
