Assisted Dying: CM calls for referendum

Isle of Man residents could be asked to vote on whether assisted dying should be legalized in a referendum.

The House of Keys has been discussing potential changes to Dr Alex Allinson’s Assisted Dying Bill this afternoon.

The Chief Minister said more debate and input was needed from the public.

Alfred Cannan told MHKs that a referendum could be needed to make a decision.

A similar referendum was held in New Zealand over the same issue in 2020.
