This week’s local action takes place on Sunday, with two events starting simultaneously at 9:30 am.
The One-Hour Walk challenge takes place at the NSC organised by Manx Harriers, and is a brilliant introduction to race walking in a friendly and encouraging environment.
If you have got yourself fit training for the Parish and/or the End to End Walks, don’t let all that work go to waste now.
Sunday Race Walk
Come and have a go at walking faster for a shorter distance, and learning good and efficient walking technique that will be extremely helpful in longer races also.
There will be plenty of experienced coaches on hand to offer advice and encouragement. Sunday’s event also leads nicely into the Winter League series which begins in October.
Registration is on the day from 9am in Manx Harriers clubhouse where all will be made very welcome.
Double Header
Sunday morning also sees the final round of the 2024 Fell Running league organised by Manx Fell Runners, with the Spirit of Axnfell race starting from the Bungalow at 9:30am.
It’s a shame that the original Axnfell route can’t be used, but sadly much of the early part of that route is now hopelessly overgrown.
Nevertheless the majority of this long and tough route remains the same, and at 31 kilometres it’s second only to the Mountain Marathon in distance on the local fell running calendar.
