An auction will be held next month to help fund 30 local pet owners attend a Canine Emergency First Aid course.
Locals are being asked for donations of items, services or experiences for the auction which will run from November 20 to 24.
Manx charity, Greyhound Aid League Isle of Man believes that “the more people trained in canine first aid, the better it will be for all the island’s dogs”.
Canine First Aid
Greyhound Aid League Isle of Man hopes that the course will teach people the skills to provide emergency first aid until the owner can get to a vet.
The training will be led by Kate Divers, owner of Ruff Mutts Canine Behaviour and a registered veterinary nurse.
The two hour session will cover the most commonly encountered injuries and a variety of emergencies, including CPR.
On completion of the course, attendees will be presented with a Canine First Aid certificate valid for 12 months.
The event will take place on the afternoon of January 24 at the Busy Bee dog training centre in Ramsey.
Auction
It is anticipated that there will be over 70 auction lots, from spa sessions, to homewares, to pet related items, as well as vintage collectables.
The cost of a place on the training course, including refreshments, is £10 per person and it will be open to any local dog owner who would like to attend, subject to availability.
