‘Beginning of The End’

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Tim Glover has said that yesterday’s dramatic Tynwald sitting felt like the ‘beginning of the end’.

The MHK took to his social media to air his thoughts on the resignation of Lawrie Hooper as Health Minister.

Although Glover says he has had his differences with Hooper and has not liked his style when questioned, he thinks Hooper is “right to make a stance”.

Glover feels that “health care free at the point of entry is a fundamental requirement” for him.

Beginning of the End?

The southern MHK urges the government to “get the private wing up and running in addition for those that can afford it without compromising the overall health service” to generate more income.

He also wants to see the end of the NI insurance holiday scheme for new residents, as well as looking at raising the income tax cap.

Glover says, “there are plenty of options for raising revenue without compromising the principles of free health care”.

He also called out the Chief Minister accusing him of being “obsessed” with raising the population to 100,000, and says that his suggestions may “compromise” the Chief’s wishes.

He finished his post by saying yesterday “felt like the beginning of the end….of what is the next stage”.
