Betty’s Amazing Donation to RNLI

A donation of £10,000, left to the RNLI by a former resident, has been gratefully received by the Port Erin’s volunteer crew.

The station received the cheque from Jenny Turner and Billy Denard, the niece and nephew of the late Betty Parry.

Betty was born on the Island and after teaching in the UK, both her and her husband Jack came back to the island to live in the family home at Eairystane.

She was later a resident of Castleview nursing home when she sadly passed away at the age of 100.

The cheque was received by Michele Farrar, with crew members Tony Mitchell, Matty Preston and John-Paul Walker.

The station said: “Thank you Betty and family. Port Erin Lifeboat crew and the wider RNLI charity are so grateful ❤️ And thank you to Mary Davies for capturing the moment.”
