Boardwalks on a Public Right of Way between Cregneash and Strooan Cass have been fully reinstated following extensive works.
Locally sourced materials, have been used throughout, and the new raised design lifts the woodwork above the damp undergrowth.
The DoI say this will help it last longer and match similar improvements now appearing across the public right of way network.
The boardwalk has also been extended to ensure all wet areas are passable.

During construction, DoI joiners avoided areas where rare orchids grow, and the original boardwalk was left in place as it’s become home to a number of frogs.
A tall steel post was also retained as the team on site noticed it has become a regular perch for a long-eared owl who seems to have claimed the spot.
There are a couple of signs still to go in, but the path is now open and ready to enjoy.
