A bomb disposal unit has arrived on the island and is en route to Port Erin under a police escort.
The unit arrived on the Manannan sailing from Liverpool.
This follows Police cordoning off a scene at a property in Pairk Beg, Port Erin due to suspicious items located within the property.
The Police have said: “As a result of further investigation by attending specialists a decision was made to evacuate the residential properties within Port Erin within a 100 meter radius of the scene.
“We would like to reassure the public that the appropriate procedures for incidents of this nature are being followed and the safety the general public remains our priority.”
