Books on a Boat to Visit the Bay

Logos Hope, the world’s largest floating book fair, will visit Douglas harbour next month at the invitation of local churches.

The ship, which voyages round the world to share knowledge with the global community, will dock from November 6-18. The vessel’s sister ship, The Logos, visited the island in 1984, and was met with thousands of visitors.

The sailing is operated by non-profit organisation, GBA Ships, and boasts an extensive selection of over 5,000 books from a variety of genres, all of which are available for purchase.

Logos Hope crew member Andy Sheath is from the island. He says: “It feels like bringing my home to my home, two worlds colliding.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for people on the island to meet us and experience Logos Hope right on their doorstep. This is such a special visit, especially given how much the island wanted to invite us.”

In addition to it’s wealth of literary material, the ship possesses a multicultural cafe, welcome area and facilities to meet the crew which serve aboard.
