It’s been ten years since Vida LaFierce first danced onto the Isle of Man’s music scene and what a decade it has been.
A widely popular star who opened the door for those who followed, Vida has carved out a career that blends unashamed fun with an infectious passion for performance.
Over the years, Vida has become a staple of the island’s entertainment scene, known for her magnetic stage presence and genre-defying versatility (check out her new song Smooth Talker, you’ll see what I mean).
From there, the crowds and the stage have only got bigger, with more of the island’s music fans embracing and enjoying Vida’s and other drag queens’ shows.
Vida said: “When I started, I thought I might get a few gigs here and there. I never imagined it would grow into something this big.
“It’s been amazing to see how far it’s come and how much support I’ve had along the way.”
Rainbow Nights
One of Vida’s most notable contributions has been her work on Rainbow Nights, a beloved monthly LGBTQ+ event that has become a headline part of the island’s pub scene.
That monthly show is leaving its Saddle home after four years and heading to a new venue next month.
Reflecting on those four years, Vida said she has “ absolutely loved” working with everyone at the Saddle, but times change and she is very excited about moving to The Railway.
Vida said: “It’s somewhere I’ve wanted to play for ages, since they had the nice refit and it has the pretty lights, a good sound system and it’s nice to be moving somewhere bigger.”
Everyone’s Talking About Jamie
Throughout her career, Vida has embraced a wide array of projects, from live music performances to theatrical ventures.
In March, she will take on a new challenge with a role in the critically acclaimed musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, with the Manx Operatic Society.
Known for its uplifting story and themes of acceptance, the show feels like a perfect fit for Vida’s vibrant personality and love for storytelling through performance.
“Being part of this production is a dream come true,” she said. “The music, the energy, and the message—everything about it is inspiring. I’m so excited to bring my character, Sandra Bollock, to life.”
The show is about Jamie, a 16-year-old learning to love and accept who he is and his dream of being a drag queen and the challenges that throws up against his Sheffield working class upbringing.
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is on at the Gaiety from March 14 to 22, tickets are available here.

As Vida embarks on the next chapter of her career, she remains as passionate as ever about her craft, about putting on a show and providing a space for people to be themselves, all while being fabulous.
