Isle Listen and SportErin have joined forces to host a Community Three-Legged Race this September, aiming to combine fitness, fun, and mental health awareness.
The event, supported by Tandem Corporate Services, will take place on Sunday September 7 at Ballakilley Park and is open to participants aged 5+ and all abilities. Entry is in teams of two, with children aged 5–7 required to pair with an adult over 18.
Isle Listen events manager Juan Christian said, “A rugby charity and a mental health charity might not seem like an obvious pair, but both are built on the same foundations of resilience, support, and connection.
“Together, we are working towards a stronger, more open community.”
Opportunities
SportErin, an extension of Southern Nomads RUFC, has been a registered charity since 2007, providing accessible sporting opportunities for young people.
A spokesperson said: “SportErin isn’t just about rugby, it’s about building a healthier, more connected community. Partnering with Isle Listen allows us to support the mental as well as the physical wellbeing of our young people—and to do it in a way that’s inclusive and fun.”
Andrew Dawson, director at Tandem, added, “At Tandem, we’re proud to support this uplifting event in aid of Isle Listen and Southern Nomads SportErin, two charities making a real difference to young people’s lives.
“With a shared focus on mental health and community wellbeing, their work highlights the powerful link between sport, support, and emotional resilience.”
Funds raised will support Isle Listen’s mental health education programme, delivered to over 10,000 young people annually, and SportErin’s clubhouse development at Ballakilley Park.
