Jason Cheetham has announced he will seek election as an independent MHK for Douglas North in September.
40-year-old Cheetham was born and raised on the Isle of Man and now lives in Douglas.
He holds a Business Management degree and later completed the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Chester.
He has worked in tax and accountancy since 2013 and established his own firm in 2019.
Disconnect Government
He said he is standing because he believes government has become “disconnected” from the day‑to‑day realities faced by people across the island, and that commitments are too often made without meaningful action.
Cheetham plans to meet residents across Douglas North in the coming weeks and says his early campaign focus will include immigration and border control, energy production, cost of living, Government spending, economic confidence, Manx Care, food security, infrastructure and housing.
He said his background in business, law and accountancy would help him scrutinise decisions and hold government to account.
Cheetham added that good representation “starts with listening, understanding and being present in the community”.
The General Election takes place on September 24.
Also standing in Douglas North is David Ashford, Hugo Yates and Peter Washington.
