Manx advocate Damian Ciappelli has declared he will stand for Douglas North in September’s House of Keys General Election.
Ciappelli, who lives in Tromode Park, has worked across law and business both on and off-island and currently serves as Chairman of the Positive Action Group.
He said he is standing because he believes the island needs a government that is “more financially responsible” and better at delivering essential services, with a stronger focus on securing the future for younger generations.
His stated priorities include strengthening the Manx economy, tackling government overspending, improving healthcare, addressing the housing crisis, protecting air and sea links, and ensuring the Island remains a place where young people can build a good life.
Ciappelli, who qualified as a Manx Advocate in 2003, has advised major businesses in the insurance, fiduciary and funds sectors and previously worked in Luxembourg’s fund management industry. His community roles include serving on the Isle of Man Law Society Council and as a trustee of Age Isle of Man.
He said he wants to preserve the Island’s character and local services, and promised to “ask questions, listen to people, scrutinise decisions carefully and put the interests of Douglas North and the Isle of Man first.”
Also standing in Douglas North is David Ashford, Jason Cheetham, Hugo Yates and Peter Washington.
