Fenella Logan has resigned from the board of Onchan District Commissioners saying she no longer has the capacity to fulfil the responsibilities of the position.
Ms Logan, a member of the Manx Labour Party, was first elected in 2021.
She said that at the time she had time and energy for the role, but the expansion of her professional career has left her with “very little free time” which she wants to spend with her children.
“I believe in giving my all to any project I undertake, and unfortunately, I can no longer do that in this role,” she said.
“I have missed the public meetings since the AGM, and it’s become clear that I no longer have the capacity to fulfil the responsibilities of the position as it deserves.
“I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff who keep our parish thriving. It has been a privilege to learn from you and to gain a deeper understanding of how our island’s local government operates.
“To those that I have met along the way, particularly, those from the Municipal Association it was a pleasure being involved and while I’m saddened to depart, leaving unfinished aspirations, I remain hopeful for future connections.”
Murals
As her final act with the board, Ms Logan said she was “pleased to share that the public murals created during the Onchan Mural Fest 2023 have been weather-proofed and will be installed around the village in the coming weeks”.
She added that she hoped to continue with this work in the future.
