Bride Commissioners have lodged a petition of doleance against the Department of Infrastructure over the founding of the Northern Civic Amenity Site joint board.
Court documents show the local authority believes it and its residents, are being discriminated against due to the “manifestly excessive proportion” it pays to the site.
The commissioners also claim that the new joint board shouldn’t exist because there was a lack of consultation with other local authorities about its formation.
Advocates for both Bride Commissioners and the DoI have agreed to delay proceedings for a month to see if a decision can be made outside of the courts.
In 2024, Bride Commissioners pulled out of the former NCAS joint committee and refused to pay into the site, leaving a shortfall of £67,000 which the DoI covered to keep it operating.
The NCAS committee and Ramsey Commissioners then gave a one-year notice to say they wouldn’t be operating the site any further, and a private contractor was brought in.
