A new family focussed leisure area is being planned on the outskirts of Port Erin.
Following feedback from residents, Arbory and Rushen Commissioners has submitted a planning application to develop land next to the Southern Nomads rugby pitches on Barracks Road.
It would include a BMX track, dog walking park and new pedestrian access routes.
Family Focussed
Commissioner Jane Glover says the area will be a ‘valuable’ outdoor space and hopes to encourage community projects within the space.
She added that the local authority has been ‘mindful’ of the surrounding area which includes a cemetery and church, when planning the layout of the new facility.
Mrs Glover also says wildflower planting will be included in the scheme and waste soil from the rugby site is being used to help with the development of the BMX/dirt track.
