Castletown Town Commissioners have outlined a packed year of community projects, heritage work and town improvements, alongside the publication of their first annual meetings and governance report.
The update highlights several developments across the town, including the launch of a new Castletown Visitors Guide, offering a walking route and historical highlights of the ancient capital.
The free A5 booklet will be distributed to businesses, venues and the new MNH centre in Market Square.
Projects & Upgrades
Planning approval has been secured for a handrail along Union Lane to improve safety in high winds, with installation expected in the coming months.
The Commissioners also marked the 130th anniversary of Poulsom Park with a community procession, music from Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band, Manx dancing and the planting of four commemorative trees.
Castletown’s role in major annual events was also emphasised, including support for the Southern 100 Fan Zone, participation in the Tynwald Day ceremony, and hosting the World Tin Bath Championships, which raised funds for local charities.
Other updates include a planning application for a new wheelie bin store at The Crofts to tidy the area and improve storage for residents, and the relaunch of the Commissioners’ official website, which is being modernised and updated.
The Commissioners say they hope the newly published annual report, which explains their committee structure, responsibilities and governance, will help residents better understand how the Board operates.
