The Department for Enterprise has said all procurement procedures were followed around a company which assesses the island’s tourist accommodation.
Concerns were raised with Manx.News by a reader about the firm being owned by Visit Isle of Man CEO Deborah Heather.
Government documents, released through FoI, show QIA Services Limited, owned by Mrs Heather, secured the accommodation assessment contract in July 2023.
A DfE spokesperson stated: “The procurement process, including tender evaluation, contract award and subsequent contract extension maintained complete separation from the CEO of Visit Isle of Man, who was neither involved in any decision-making process, nor included in relevant communications.”
Name Change
Our reader also raised concerns over the contract extension awarded to the business, which named a different company.
The contract was originally signed under the name “Quality Int’l Assessment Services Limited” but extended in May 2025 to “QIA Services Limited.”
Officials explained: “The letter sought to address an anomaly between the company name and company number on the original contract. The correct Company number was used, which related to QIA Services Ltd.”
