Minor Injuries, X-ray and ultrasound services have returned to Ramsey Cottage Hospital as part of a phased reopening, the Health and Social Care Minister has confirmed.
Claire Christian told Tynwald that the services resumed on Monday, marking “a continued onsite presence at Ramsey”.
A modular dental unit is planned for 21 June, with phototherapy and dermatology services to follow in July. Renal dialysis is also being progressed, with planning assumptions pointing towards the end of July.
However, the Minister warned that a recent condition survey revealed “significant building issues” at the site, with repair costs estimated between £6 million and £10 million.
“This means wider strategic planning is required, rather than simply returning all services to the existing building,” she said.
Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper raised concerns about transport links to Jerby Health Centre, where some services will continue to be delivered. He also questioned delays on the return of inpatient rehabilitation from Martin Ward, which is currently at Nobles Hospital.
Christian confirmed that a decision on Martin Ward is expected by the end of June, adding: “Engagement is hugely important.” She said Manx Care plans to establish a consultative committee specifically for Ramsey and north provision following the TT.
