Council Invests in Football Pitches

Douglas Council has confirmed that works to improve football pitches at Noble’s Park are underway.

The local authority says it’s the latest move to enhance facilities for both the local community and sports teams in the capital.

The pitch, which will become the home of Division Two side Douglas and District FC, as well as its Combination Two team, will benefit from significant upgrades aimed at improving playing conditions.

The club has contributed £10,000 towards the project, underlining its commitment to developing grassroots football.

Investment

Initial work includes stripping the existing topsoil, with subsoil being transported from Ballaughton Nursery to the site as part of the pitch enhancement process.

This investment forms part of the Council’s wider commitment to supporting community sport and creating quality recreational spaces for all.

Councillor Natalie Byron-Teare said: “We have been liaising with the club since last summer and are pleased that a project to level out and upsize the existing pitch is progressing and being carried out by a local contractor with specialist experience.

“These construction works are an important part of our ongoing investment in sports and other community facilities in Douglas and is a real partnership with the club also making its own contribution towards the scheme.”

D&D plays around 30 home matches on the pitch per season.
