Douglas City Council has paid tribute to John Wannenburgh MHK, expressing its sadness at his passing and extending condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
The Council said it joins the wider Isle of Man community in mourning the North Douglas representative, noting his long-standing commitment to public service.
Council Leader Devon Watson said John Wannenburgh worked “tirelessly to make our island a better place”, adding that he served his constituents with “commitment, compassion and an unwavering sense of duty”.
Mayor Steven Crellin described him as a widely respected figure who took a close interest in the work of Douglas City Council, supported community events and collaborated on initiatives to improve life in the capital.
He said Wannenburgh’s passing is “a great loss to our island” and that he will be remembered “with warmth and appreciation”.
