Council want planning permission for new parking meters

Douglas City Council has applied for planning permission to do improvement works on the Bottleneck Car Park.

The local authority wants to make the new parking meter shelters wheelchair accessible with a ‘modern’ design and have CCTV installed to cover the shelter and machine.

There is also a proposal to install a drop kerb from the raised cable car wheel art installation onto the promenade walkway.

It also wants to replace the railings to a ‘hoop’ barrier which will be galvanised steel with a black powder coated finish to protect the railings for the coastal environment.

The council also plans to put wheel stops in each space to prevent damage to the railings and would be made from a recycled rubber.

The application is currently pending consideration and can be found here.
