This weekend sees the first stages of the Hospital and Junior cups dominate the mens football schedule.
There is also a possibility that the final promotion place from Division Two could be wrapped up if results go RYCOB’s way.
The preliminary rounds of the Manx Quality Sheds Hospital Cup and Ascot Hotel Junior Cup will see teams vying for.a spot in the first round proper.
With several Division 2 sides getting a bye into the first round, the Hospital Cup draw has thrown up several all Premier League ties including title winners heading to St Mary’s and a battle of the saints as St Johns host St Georges.
Heading to Laxey for repeat of the 2023 final is Rushen, the Miners won that final but lost last year’s to holders Ramsey while the Spaniards will be looking for some silverware after they hold on the FA Cup was relinquished the other week in dramatic fashion.
Other all Premier League ties see Corinthians head to Marown and Union Mills host Ayre United.
The three other games see Douglas Royal welcome Douglas & District, Division 2 champions Braddan face Malew and Onchan will be hoping to avoid the dreaded ‘Cupset’ headline when they face Colby.
Junior
Sunday’s games see defending champions Ramsey kick off their defence of the Junior Cup at home to Union Mills. Rushen, the team they beat in that final, head up the road to Billy Goat Park to face Foxdale, while Combi 1 leaders Onchan go west (life is peaceful there) to face Peel.
The other ties see St Mary’s face Douglas Athletic at Springfield Road, Old Boys head to St John’s, Colby host Laxey, Gymns facing RYCOB and Corinthians making the trip to Castletown.
Womens
The only game in the women’s league this weekend sees Corinthians host Peel at 2pm on Sunday.
League
Saturday also sees two games in Ardern & Druggan Div2 with Old Boys hosting Michael while RYCOB could seal their promotion to the Premier League if they beat Governors Athletic and the Blackberry Lane side fail to win.
