Dean Begins The Road to Recovery

Double Parish Walk winner Dean Morgan has undergone surgery in a bid to cure the hernia problems he has been suffering with for quite some time.

Dean won the Parish Walk in 2023 and successfully retained his title in 2024. He has also achieved third place in the End to End Walk in 2022 and second place in 2024.

Writing on his personal Facebook page, Dean says: “It’s been a very complex injury to get to the bottom of, and after more than three years I’ve finally had the double Athletic Pubalgia (sports hernia) operation.

“It’s been debilitating and caused me nothing but pain with multiple setbacks, especially through training and competing. Although I’ve had a lot of success through pushing my body to the limits, it’s come at a price, and this long layoff has taught me a lot.

“There is no guarantee I can return to race walking, but I’ll do everything in my power to do so. It’s going to be a tough road to recovery but one I’ll embrace. The journey back starts here. A big thank you to my surgeon Mr Risha and his team – they’ve been amazing. Also thanks to everyone for your messages and well wishes. It’s much appreciated.”
