The cost of resurfacing Derby Haven Road in Castletown was revealed in the House of Keys today, with the DoI Minister confirming the project totalled £276,000.
The Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall MHK said the work was carried out as part of the Strategic Highway Refurbishment Programme for 2025–26.
He explained that road schemes are prioritised using criteria such as condition, skid resistance, traffic volumes, complaints and emergency repairs.
Resurfacing Priorities
MHKs raised concerns about transparency in how those priorities are set, noting that a previously promised island-wide road priority list has yet to be circulated to Tynwald members.
The DoI Minister said he would look into why this had not happened.
Questions were also asked about how project costs are managed, with the Minister acknowledging that final figures are sometimes only known once works are completed due to unforeseen issues uncovered during construction.
