Crews from Rushen Station along with the Line Rescue team from Douglas rescued a dog from the Chasms this morning.
The poor pooch is believed to slipped its harness and fallen down a crevice the Cregneash site.
With no visible sign of the dog from above, a ground anchor was set up and a line system put in place to lower a team member at the last known location of the missing dog.
Using a thermal imaging camera and handheld lighting, the team member searched small caves and ledges whilst undertaking the vertical descent.
Having travelled down approximately 50 metres, he located the dog alive but understandably anxious.
Using the owner’s voice over the radio system, he was able to calm the dog before securing him in a specialist harness to be carried back up to surface level, where he was reunited with his family.
