Douglas City Council has stepped in to support Beach Buddies, a local charity committed to keeping Manx beaches clean.
Recognising the success of the charities bins located on Douglas Promenade, the Council has assisted with necessary repairs and maintenance.
The Beach Buddies bins have proven to be a significant success story since their implementation. However, over time, they were in need of repairs and cleaning.

Understanding the importance of maintaining these bins and the positive impact they have on the environment, Douglas City Council took the initiative to help cover the costs and donating man power to complete the necessary repairs.
As a dedicated supporter of environmentally responsible initiatives, Douglas City Council is committed to backing projects like this.
The Council also prides itself as being a UNESCO Biosphere Partner, embracing initiatives that promote protecting our flora and fauna, and encouraging a greener lifestyle for all residents and visitors.
Bill Dale, Founder of Beach Buddies, said: “Beach Buddies has a really good relationship with Douglas City Council, which spans back many years.
“Our sponsored bins on Douglas Promenade have been a significant success story. All of our bins around the Island require regular repairs and maintenance, which can be very costly.

“Therefore, having Douglas City Council support us by repairing the bins in Douglas is invaluable and greatly appreciated.”
The support provided by Douglas City Council will enable Beach Buddies to maintain its commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the city’s beaches. By ensuring the bins are in optimal condition, the Council is actively contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
