Douglas residents are being invited to join this year’s Remembrance Sunday commemorations, with a parade, church service and wreath-laying ceremony planned for November 8.
Douglas City Council says the event will honour members of the armed forces, past and present, and remember those who lost their lives in conflicts around the world.
The parade will form at Market Hill at 9.15am before making its way to St Thomas’ Church for a service beginning at 10am.
Participants will then proceed to the War Memorial for the two minutes’ silence at 11am, followed by the laying of wreaths.
Mayor of Douglas, Councillor Steven Crellin JP, said Remembrance Sunday was an opportunity for the community to reflect on the sacrifices made by service personnel and support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
A separate Armistice Day ceremony will take place at the War Memorial on November 11, with Harris Promenade closing temporarily while the event is held.
