A key figure in a Merseyside organised crime group has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for supplying controlled drugs to the island.
Liam Dunne was described by police as a “pivotal link” in a supply chain that trafficked substantial quantities of Class A and B drugs onto the island throughout 2023.
His conviction followed two major, parallel investigations by the Serious and Organised Crime Unit, Operation Vineyard and Operation Bobcat.
The lengthy probes uncovered sophisticated methods, including the use of a fishing vessel to transport cannabis and heroin concealed within tubs of builders’ caulk sent via post.

Knowing he was wanted, Dunne fled to Spain in an attempt to evade arrest, but was apprehended later brought to the island.
Detective Inspector Jamie Tomlinson said: “Liam Dunne played a key role in the Merseyside organised crime group supplying drugs into the island.
“His early guilty plea reflects the overwhelming evidence gathered against him and the outstanding investigative work by our officers.”
He added: “Should detailed and complex drug investigations lead us to key UK offenders, we will not hesitate to secure arrest warrants, work alongside UK law enforcement partners, and bring those individuals to the island to face justice.
“It is individuals like Mr Dunne who must be dealt with robustly, otherwise they will continue to exploit our island and profit at the expense of our community.”
The operations have already resulted in several other individuals receiving lengthy custodial sentences.
